          In the wake of these large-scale cultural attacks and the blatant ignorance of authentic indigenous existence, a field of Postcolonial theory has risen to explore the effects on native cultural identities, race, and ethnicity that have developed both during the process of colonization, and in the aftermath of decolonization.

          Postcolonial art contributes a complex array of voices to this field by artists in direct response to their and their home countries' experiences navigating the waters of colonialism's influence.
